Information Overload
October 5, 2006
As for others my days consists of an astonishing amount of information: ideas, ideas and ideas on mailinglists and blog feeds. For some reason it is first now I’ve realized I must prioritize. Perhaps I’m getting old.
Even though I make an admirable effort at catching up on my feeds and one of those must-read mailing lists, I am left with a borked head and plenty of feeds and lists still to read but disabled to consume.
It hurts my hacking too. “Just reading that one too” leaves me with fragmented productivity trickling at the end.
Righ right, “learn to handle mail efficiently”, “top ten reasons to avoid burn out”, and all that. That’s not my concern. It is missing those ideas. I’m supposed to blizzfully mark it it all as “Read, don’t need it”. No thank you, don’t feel like accepting that.
Let’s hope this public farting will help.
